Clayton College & State University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Sharon E. Hoffman has announced that Judith A. Plawecki has been selected as the new dean of the university's School of Health Sciences.
Plawecki holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in educational administration, a master's degree in nursing from Iowa and a bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Xavier College in Chicago.
She comes to Clayton State from Spalding University in Louisville, Ky., where she served as associate vice president for academic affairs, dean of the graduate school, dean of the College of Professional Studies and a tenured professor.
From 1987 to 2000, she served at the University of South Florida as a professor and dean. She also has held deanships at Lewis University in Chicago, the University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota, and has taught at the University of Iowa and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In 1998, Plawecki received the professional excellence award for teaching from the State University System of Florida for consistent excellence in performance in the system.
