Georgia Aquarium to welcome 10 millionth visitor

The Georgia Aquarium, which has produced all sorts of big digits since its opening in November 2005, will welcome its 10 millionth visitor on Thursday.

In honor of its latest milestone, here’s a by-the-numbers look at the downtown attraction:

• 40,000-50,000 animals estimated in its aquatic collection.

• 8 million gallons of water in various galleries, moved by 234 pumps.

• 61 miles of pipes in operational systems.
