First of all, don't blame us.

We didn't compile the following dubious list of vehicles, dubbed the Ten Worst Automobiles for 2007.

GM
The 2007 Saturn Ion is a 'born loser' according to the TTAC.

GM
The TTAC slammed the 2007 Hummer H2 big time.

The 2007 Dodge Nitro is a 'neutered jeep,' says the TTAC.

HOLIDAY GUIDE

It was done by the Truth About Cars, an automotive Web site (www.thetruthaboutcars.com).

The folks there took 136 nominations from the public, narrowed those down to 20, then conducted an online poll to come up with the rankings.

"From a long and ignoble list of nominees, our readers have chosen 10 cars that are less desirable than swordfish ice cream," TTAC Publisher Robert Farago said in a news release. "They're a rolling condemnation of their manufacturers' lack of vision, taste, engineering and marketing."

Ouch.

Here are the selections. If you manufacture, sell or own any of these vehicles, read 'em and weep:

10. Saturn ION: This car is being replaced in the Saturn lineup, but still had to endure this parting shot from TTAC: "From its Frankensteinian proportions and ditch water dull detailing ... the ION was a born loser."

9. Chrysler Aspen: The only Chrysler-branded full-size SUV hasn't been on the market all that long, but apparently long enough for TTAC to say: "It's ugly, slow (even with a Hemi under hood) and badly built. It's no wonder Aspen customers are lined up none deep."

8. Chevrolet TrailBlazer (below)/ GMC Envoy/ Isuzu Ascender/ Saab 9-7X: These SUVs share the same platform, albeit one that does not meet TTAC's approval. "Although there may be a good reason to buy one, you can hear the competition singing 'anything you can do I can do better.' "

7. Hummer H2: Hummer has taken a number of shots from environmentalists, so TTAC feels it's appropriate to pile on. "Meanwhile, you might as well wear a freshly bludgeoned baby seal as drive this big rig."

6. Hummer H3: TTAC apparently found bashing Hummer to be like eating potato chips. "For those of you who don't count rivets for fun, the H2's baby brother is thirstier than Lindsay Lohan just out of rehab, slower than continental drift and rougher than Class VI rapids."

5. Chevrolet Uplander: General Motors is getting out of the minivan business, and TTAC would probably say not a minute too soon. "This dead van walking never fooled anyone with its SUV-wannabe styling on a poorly engineered '90s-era platform."

4. Dodge Nitro: Another relative newcomer to the market gets a harsh reception. "The Nitro is the answer to a question nobody asked: who wants a rough-running, gas-guzzling, hard-shifting, sloppy handling, cheaply adorned, pavement bound, neutered Jeep?" TTAC said.

3. Chevrolet Aveo: You would think that the only subcompact that's made by an American car company could catch a break. You'd be wrong. "From its tinny-sounding doors to its penalty box interior, the Aveo screams cheap more loudly (and persistently) than an amphetamine-crazed parrot," TTAC said.

2. Chrysler Sebring: The Sebring has been criticized in the past, but many reviewers say it's better now than ever before. Don't count TTAC among them.

"It's hideous in a deeply bland sort of way. Its cabin, handling, acceleration and ride quality (or complete lack thereof) is to driving pleasure what hair shirts are to eczema sufferers."

1. Jeep Compass: Yet another Chrysler Group product gets taken to task, and this one landed at the top of the list. "Jeep's recipe for disaster is both simple and comprehensive: laughable aesthetics, second-rate road manners, poky performance and interior materials pulled from the bottom drawer of Chrysler's parts bin."
