Are holiday jobs hard to find this year in Atlanta?

This year’s hunt for holiday jobs is supposed to be more intense than usual. Because more people are unemployed going into the holiday season, there’s a lot more people out there trying to apply for seasonal and other part-time jobs. Instead of teenagers and housewives, which make up the typical seasonal job applicant pool, the recently laid-off from a wide cross-section of industries are scrambling for these jobs.

Of course, retailers, who tend to hire the most amount of seasonal workers, have low expectations for spending this holiday season, considering the state of the economy, which means they will need to hire less people.

Are you looking for seasonal work in Atlanta? How has your part-time job search been? Do you think it’s harder to find seasonal jobs this year in Atlanta?

It’s a hard time to find a job regardless. If anyone has any advice for job seekers in the property management field please let me know!

I’m not looking but I do see lots of ‘hiring’ or ‘help wanted’ signs. Nothing that you could expect to have as a permanent job but if you’re just looking for holiday cash, I think the jobs are there.

I’ve had call backs and offers from every retail job I’ve applied at, the problem for me wasn’t getting a job, it was getting enough hours to make it worth while (some wanted to offer me 12 a week, or said the more credit cards I sold the more hours I could have). I finally did though, I found a company that filled my schedule per what I needed to work. My boyfriend hasn’t had the same luck that I have though.

My 16 year old daughter has been looking for a part-time job since Sept. and has not been able to find one. She only wanted to work 10-20 hours a week and has not received any call backs!

I have plenty of jobs, but only for attactive legal age girls that want to get into the film industry or do some modeling.
