What’s on your spooky soundtrack?

Halloween might be known for its tricks, and of course, its treats — but what about the music?

From “Monster Mash” to “Sympathy for the Devil,” pop culture has produced its own spooky soundtrack.

Take a look at our photo gallery of scary must-haves for your Halloween mix tape and then let us know if we missed the mark. What songs/artists would you add? What’s on your mix tape?

“Mr. Crowley” by Ozzy Osbourne’s BLIZZARD OF OZZ band. Nothing says Halloween like a song about witchcraft. Rawk on, Atlanta!

Can anyone say “The Haunted House of Retro-Pleasure”? Ex-99x Icon Steve Craig had the playlist down YEARS ago. I really miss that show…..

“Maybe You Were Right” by Ringside has a little bit of dark, evocative language.

Oops, Ringside’s tune is actually called “Tired of Being Sorry.” Also … “Hotel California” by the Eagles, if it’s not already on the list.

Rob Zombie, as mentioned in the article, is perfect for Halloween, but I strongly advise pre-screening his songs before playing them around your tots.

“Creature from the Black Leather Lagoon”—The Cramps. I mean, seriously…

“(I’m) like a fireball burning all down below/Daddy made mamma/but she shoulda said no”.

Hey, if that’s not “here-kid-have-a-Butterfinger” music, I’m not sure what is.

If you’re looking for more—“Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things”—Photon Torpedos.

Yay! Halloween!

How could anyone miss the greatest and spookiest song of ALL TIME? That would be “Tubular Bells” by Michael Oldfield. The song was the main theme from the movie the “Exorcist”.

I agree with Charles above that Steve had the Haunted House of Retro-Pleasure down pat this time of year…
