Can you resist tempting treats?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
There it is - the candy bowl - tempting you, calling your name.
Another Halloween and while your kids may love this time of year, it’s a nightmare for people watching their weight or just trying to eat healthy.
Feeding Fenzy blogger Jeanne Besser understands the temptation. Besser writes about being surrounded by candy bowls “beckoning me to just have one little itty-bitty piece.”
How do you resist the temptation? Do you find yourself buying more candy to replace what you’ve already eaten?

I read the AJC article regarding how parents handle the post-candy fest at their houses, and it was very interesting. Two of the families mentioned donating the candy to charity. What charity accepts Halloween candy? I’ve never heard of this before, but am very interested in learning more. Thanks!

I recently moved in with my son, his wife and their 5 y.o. daughter. I have talked with them about the candy ‘situation’ after Halloween, and expressed my ideas, which they quickly agreed with. My granddaughter will be allowed to take ONE treat in her school lunchbox (only when she takes her lunch to school) and one treat after dinner. She will be allowed to choose which ones she wants. And she will be allowed 2 pieces each Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully, by Christmas, it will be gone! We don’t take her to a lot of houses. Mainly families we know and/or are related to, so there won’t be masses of candy. She likes the dressing up most of all.

I buy trick-or traeting candy that I don’t like (for me it’s Skittles or anything with caramel). If there’s chocolate in the house, I’m going to eat it, so I don’t subject myself to the temptation.

Good Idea Jen! I’ll have to go buy candy I don’t like! I guess I’ll be buying Almond Joys and Mounds. I cant stand the coconut!!

DON’T OPEN THE BAG until Halloween, then take the left overs [if there are any] to work to fatten up your co-workers.

I cannot stay away from candy corn. I love that stuff, and have already gone through 2 bags. It’s Candy crack for me. Step away from the bag..
I was keeping the bag in the kitchen, but got tired of getting up every commerical to grab another handful, so I ended up putting some in a bowl on the coffee table. My dogs LOVE candy corn.
