What’s your favorite new restaurant of 2007

Lots of new spots opened in 2007 — Shaun’s (technically opened in 2006, but reviewed in 2007), JCT Kitchen, Trois (see what I just said about Shaun’s), Posh, Lola, MF Buckhead, Tamarind Thai, Palomilla’s, Bistro VG, Room, Stats, TAP, FAB — and that’s the short list.

What’s your favorite new restaurant for 2007?

Chor Won Korean Buffet is the BEST Korean restaurant in Georgia. They have good prices, with a friendly atmosphere. It is also clean and well light for everyone.

Link: Landon’s Restaurant and Bar on Cascade just outside I-285 is likely the finest dining in South Fulton with absolutely incredible food, great atmosphere and a great value.

Il Bacio Trattoria in Lindbergh Plaza. It has great pizza and Italian dishes. It is a great addition to the dining options in the area.

Tokyo Japanese Steak House in Douglasville is the best hibachi restaurant. They surpass Benihana’s and Nakato’s and they are a better value. The fried rice with grilled shrimp is to die for. The price range is from 12 to 35 dollars so its very afforadable.

I vote for the “new” Silver Grill on Monroe Drive. Real food, real service, not marketing hype.

Mi Tierra’s Mexican restaurant in Cartersville. If you like AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine, this place will blow you away. They’re extremely friendly, the owner and his wife run all the operations from the food preparation (all from scratch) to the service. My wife is from Texas, and is hispanic. She says this place is “just like going to my Grandmother’s house when I was a little girl. the food is fresh, authentic and delicious.”
My personal favorite is the big burritos in the morning for breakfast- huevos y chorizzo con queso.

Trois and Shaun’s would be at the top of my list. Ecco (did it open in 2007?) is excellent. And two reincarnations: FAB (of Brasserie le Coze) and Tamarind Seed (of Tamarind).

“The Righteous Room” right next door to the Plaza Theater at Ponce de Leon & Highland Avenue.

Just a little joint, “The Righteous Room” has great drinks, great service, nice people (mostly 30-ish), a smoking area, and the best Bar-B-Que “Sammich” and Veggie Burger I’ve ever had.

Also try the creamed spinach as a side. You won’t be disappointed.

Pizza Bar on Veterans Memorial in Mableton has to be the best new restaurant of 2007. They have the best pizza in the city and the decor is fabulous.

I really like Trois. The food and presentation are wonderful, the restaurant is beautiful, and it always smells like great dishes are cooking when you walk in.

It’s not a fancy place or anything, but I’ve been wanting El Pollo Loco from California to come to Atlanta ever since I left California! This year, it finally happened and more are coming. This is the only place where you can get grilled chicken at a fast food price. Love this place!

Pizza Cafe in Stone Mountain off 75. Amazing pizza. That’s coming from a New Yorker who loves, and knows good pizza.

I second the recommendation for Il Bacio in Lindbergh. My wife and I both enjoy the food. The service is great too.

Pizza Cafe is not a new place by any means. It has been around for at least 12 years (I used to eat there in high school) and there is also an Avondale Pizza Cafe which might have been around even longer. Glad you like it, but its not new!

Yeah, I second that on Pizza Cafe. I refuse to eat any other pizza! They’ve been around for over 20 years and make the best pizza.

I agree with the comments about Pizza Cafe and El Pollo Loco. Pizza Cafe has been around at least 20 years and makes the best pizza around! I have sworn off all the other pizza places; they just don’t compare. And I’m from California and have been dying for El Pollo Loco to come here. It’s the best! None of the current locations are close to my house but I can’t wait.

I’m co-signing with Mark H. Rare Tapas and Rathbuns are fantabulous! Great food, atmosphere and service. I would add Krog Bar as well as a sexy great date place. Happy New Year!

I get a chuckle when I see the mention of chain restaurants, and places that will make the ITP foodies cringe. I’m just not refined enough, I like good food, and see humor in those who will pay $30+ for a small amount of food on a fancy plate, due to the “great presentation”.

The Glenwood in EAV is fantastic. Great food, cozy setting, hip wait staff. I also second the comment on Solstice in Grant Park…..they do a particularly good brunch.

Although they probably didn’t open in 2007, One Midtown Kitchen…FABULOUS! I love the lamb ribs…they fall off the bone. Rare and Harlem Bar are great spots, great atmosphere for anyone that visits ATL. Oh yeah, check out M-Bar. They have these appetizer turkey burgers that are delicious!

GAGirl, where is El Pollo Loco in metro ATL? They have the best grilled chicken and they served that all day! My aunt from Long Beach turned me on to the establishment when I was out on the West Coast a couple of summers ago…Low fat, low carb, especially if you’re dieting need some healthy and fresh food prepared.

Alice’s Restaurant has the best food in der verld. You can get anything you want there. Try the shrooms…(oh the colors!)

Seriously, there are no good restaurants in cobb county. none. period. Also, it seems that waiters, busboys, and cooks are saving water by not washing their hands in any restaurant in cobb county. Stay home people, and eat your wife’s burned toast and cold eggs. Or pop in an eggo. A can of beefaroni will take you back to old Italy. O sole mio…..

Oz Pizza in Fairburn! It’s been there a while, but I found it in ‘07. They have the best pizza I’ve ever had since I moved to Georgia 11 years ago. The staff is great, too.

The best restaurant I found in 2007 would be a cozy soul-food resturant called “Momma Nems” on Memorial Dr. in Stone Mountian. Great atomsphere, great service and the food is AWESOME. I now go there every Sunday after church.

not sure if it technically qualifies, as it is most assuredly a bar, but Charlie Mopps Pub in Sandy Springs opened this year and has great bar food.

Also in East Point: EL ROCIO, on Main Street … another excellent Mexican restaurant. Right across the street from the East Point MARTA station. Amazing lunch specials, live music, friendly staff; a very popular place.
