Does (gift) Size Matter?

Holiday season, according to some Atlantans, is all about expectation.

I was recently out asking shoppers if they want a gift that comes in a big box or a small box. The consensus so far?

Men could care less, but when pressed they want a big box.

Women tend to want a small box because they think it will have something more expensive (like jewelry).

What are your thoughts? Big box or small?

I could care less about the box size, I care about the thought that went into the gift..

Seriously though. The best gifts I gotten never came in a box and the worst one always came in pretty packaging large and small.

I think that gifts shouldn’t matter at all. Christmas is all about family …. and I’ve lost my beloved father and an only nephew this year, and without them, Christmas is nothing … even with BIG OR SMALL EXPENSIVE GIFTS.

Hi Pam, I’m sorry to hear about your loss this holiday season. A few years ago I lost my brother. He was almost 20, and it was devestating to our family. My only advice for you is to honor the dead by appreciating the living. They would want it that way, it is the best gift you could give them. I wish you and your family peace this holiday season.

Pam, I can relate to that. We lost our little brother last December and my sister wants nothing to do with Christmas this year. I in turn am trying my best to make it a good one for my girls sake. I feel very sorry for my sister’s children. She tends to inflice her pain upon them although I know that is not what she wants to do. Losing a loved one is hard when the holidays roll around but I don’t think our lost loved ones would want us to be miserable in life. That’s the only thing that keeps my chin up. God Bless.

I lost my father 15 years ago, and the holidays are the hardest without him.

I lost it in the Men’s section at Macy’s this past weekend, just by looking at ties. I used to buy my Dad ties all the time. To this day, I cannot look at a tie display without thinking about him.

What kind of gifts are we talking about here? Christmas gifts right? Do they give gifts for Ramadan? So, why didn’t you just say Christmas?

It’s bad enough that Sears has renamed their Christmas trees “Holiday Trees” and mall Santas have to hand out “Holiday Activity” books with no reference to Christmas inside. Don’t believe me? Go see Santa at Cumberland or Perimeter.

There is no credible War On Christmas.

Get over it.

OK, lovelyliz, keep your head in the sand. Lawsuits from the ACLU all over the place. Fort Collins, CO last month put together a task force to make sure public displays were limited to only snowflakes, penguins, and white lights. There are thousands of examples. Of course, if you refuse to see them, they must not be true, right?
