Is Terrence Howard the face of the holidays?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Few actors appear on the big-screen this holiday season more than Terrence Howard.
He plays a child advocacy agent in “August Rush,” which debuted last week. On Friday, he appears in in the thriller “Awake” with Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba.
Just around the corner, Howard will show up as Mr. Bah Humbug opposite super-nice Queen Latifah in supporting roles in the very-holiday movie “The Perfect Holiday.”
Already this year we’ve seen Howard in “The Brave One,” “The Hunting Party” and “Pride.”
Is he challenging Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson to be in the most movies ever? This year alone, Caine’s been in two movies and Jackson’s been in five TV and movie projects. Howard’s been in seven on TV and in the movies.
I usually don’t mind seeing Howard so many times because he’s almost always excellent.
Here are my favorite Howard performances:
1. “Hustle & Flow” — He more than deserved the Oscar nomination he got for playing a pimp trying to reconstruct his life.
2. “Crash” — He was a standout in a large ensemble cast of standouts.
3. “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” — A lot didn’t work about this drama, but Howard was on fire.
4. “The Best Man” — He seemed to be acting in a different movie than all the other performers. And, trust me, Howard’s movie was better.
Do you like Terrence Howard? Why? And what are your favorite movies starring this prolific actor?

Yes! Excellent actor. First saw him in Crash. Since then I’m drawn to movies he’s in. Looking forward to the ones coming out this season.

i wouldn’t to risk overexposure if i had this guy’s talent - i hope he’s selective about the roles he chooses to take - two examples of roles he should have passed on are “Get Rich…” and “The Hunting Party” in which he plays second fiddle to a washed-up Richard Gere - at this point he doesn’t have to settle for marginal roles

It appears these movies are the ‘cross over’ movies b/c Terrence has been around since the late 80’s…I’ve been admiring him for a long time! Don’t you remember him as Jackie Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream? What about The Players Club? I loved him in Crash. And now he is to play, my baby, PRINCE?! OMG…I cannot wait!

I believe he was the kid the Richard Dreyfuss taught to play the drum in “Mr.Holland’s Opus”. He was excellent in that minor, yet significant role.

Anybody see him in ‘Lakawanna Blues’?(sp.?) He was also outstanding in that role..not too likeable a character, but Terrance played him perfectly. I loved him when he ‘beat down’ on Ludi in hustle & flow…ludi’s character needed that…lol…Great day to y’all !

Howard has been doing good work for some time now. Some of us understand the primary reason he has just now began to garner attention. The same reason it took Don Cheadle so long to get decent roles.
Hopefully he will be selective and not fall into the Halle Berry trap of having to ball an old white guy to get an Oscar.
Go Terrence!

Terrence is in a league of his own. I love his bad boy, pretty thug image especially in the movie The Best Man. He’s not Denzel yet, but he’s he’s not far behind. Go Terrence, Go. What a talented guy.

I first saw Terrence on the comedy Spark& Sparks with Robin Givens where he was a lawyer with his dad and brother. Who knew that geek would becaome such a huge star. The first movie I saw him in was Dead Presidents with Larenz Tate. He did his thing. Remeber when he beat Larenz’s character up in the stairway. He was excellent in Pride and the Brave One. He stole the show in the Bestman

Shame on you Ingemar Smith Halle Berry has a white mother, so she is half white! And BTW, so is Terrance Howard. She got the Oscar because she deserved it!
Back on topic, I have loved Terrance for many years. I’m glad he’s finally getting the respect he deserves. I can actually see him playing Prince (I am his #1 fan), but it will be interesting if he does!

Terrence Howard as Quentin in The Best Man….WHEW! Terrence MADE THAT movie.
I remembered him on a show regarding family lawyers, and I was not too impressed. However, when The Best Man came out, Terrence Howard changed all that.
I love that picture in the Gap campaign with his children.

Yes, I remember him in ‘Lakawanna Blues’. Loved it! Although, I remember him from Sparks & Sparks…anybody remember that with James Avery and Miguel A. Nunez. They had a family law firm. I love Terrence acting because he is such a versatile actor. Keep up the great work Terrence!

I just love T. Howard. I first saw him in the 90’s on a show called Sparks and I’ve been following his career since. I’m glad that he is finally getting his kudos for his talented performance.

I first saw him in Big Momma’s House with Martin Lawrence. Although, it was a comedy his character brought a bit of memorable darkness. I’ve been hooked ever since.

I really like Terrence Howard. One of very few black actors of his ilk with great character range. Loved his character in, “The Best Man”. Look forward to his truly breakout role that will lead him to Oscar glory!

Terrance Howard represents our generation’s greatest actors, along with Jaime Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Richard Ealy, Blair Underwood, Isaiah Washington, Larenz Tate and Hill Harper. I wish to see all these talented brothers in more serious roles. Ya’ll betta recognize, Terrance is a force to be reckoned with!

Can T-Howard, who is trying to be the hardest working man in Show biz, sing?
If he can sing then mo power to him!
I rather see T-Howard do a serious piece….something like a Rick James or Marvin Gaye or heck even Smokey Robinson

You guy’s don’t remember? Terrance Howard played Max’s young love interest on Living Single. They all picked at her because she was dating this young buck. I knew it had to be one of his first, if not the first roll that he played. His name was listed in the credits as Terrance Dashon Howard. He was sooooo sexy and seductive in The Best Man. I believe he is talented enough to be this generations Denzel Washington.
