The Dillard House just north of Clayton in Rabun County. I’ve never eaten there for Thanksgiving, but I have eaten there many other times, and I hear it’s a hotspot for Thanksgiving. My brother took his family there for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. It’s a family style restaurant- there is no menu- they just bring a huge feast to your table! I don’t think they take reservations, though, and I understand there is a long wait to get in on Thanksgiving. I recommend making hotel reservations if you don’t have a home in the area- it’s a long drive from Atlanta!

Thanksgiving at a restaurant?
You people spend too much time with my parents. They go to a restaurant every year for their meal of vegetables and tofu.
NO WAY!!!
My parents wanted me to fly or drive all the way to South Florida so I could eat steamed veggies in a restaurant on Thanksgiving…. huh?
Sorry mom and dad… I love you very much but I’ll stick with REAL FOOD, homemade by me, while I watch football and drink wine.
Wait a minute… Aren’t the Falcons playing this year on Thanksgiving? Maybe I’ll need liquor to get through it.

A weekend in St. Simons at the Cloister is a wonderful Thanksgiving treat. The food is fabulous and the service superior. There is nothing comparable. You get what you pay for, as always.

UGH! Thanksgiving in a restaurant. I perish the thought of not having the women in my family do their rightful duty of waiting on me hand and foot on Thanksgiving Day. What next AJC? I have to get up and get my own beer?

Ok….everyone remember the movie ’ A Christmas Story’ where they end up eating Thanksgiving at the chinese restaurant? They bring the goose/duck out with the head still attached and the guy chops it off with a huge knife? Classic.
For me…it’s Happy Buddha on Virginia Ave. They are a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Great food too!
But…I would have to say Waffle House is also a favorite.

Football and wine? Wine is for watching figure skating, Desperate Housewives, and Dancing with the Stars. Beer is for watching football.
The Ritz Carlton does a nice spread.

If little boy Mikey’s wife read his posts, she probably would kick his arse and send him to his room. Bad boy. I agree, Waffle House, anytime.

I know Mike. He has no wife nor a life. If you can splurge, the Ritz-Carlton has a fantastic buffet.

One year we had an out of town emergency, and we had dinner at a Waffle House in Jax. It was actually a nice change of pace…

I’ll tell you where NOT to go and that is Anthony’s on Piedmont Road. A few years back all of my family was traveling, except for mom and I, so we decided we would go out for Thanksgiving. She picked Anthony’s because of some reviews she read stating that they specialized in holiday’s and special occasions… Well, best thing I can say is at least they were open because the kitchens could barely keep food on the tables and management (I’m being generous in using that term) severely over-booked for the occasion. They couldn’t even keep fresh salads on the serving tables… not to mention that by 4:00 the one time ice sculpture had turn its serving table into a pond.
