How to be a good houseguest
• Always give notice. Don’t drop in at the last minute.

• Obey the rules of the house. Don’t be a slob, and be considerate of your host’s schedule and lifestyle.
• If the host says don’t worry about it, worry about it. Lend a hand with dishes, set the table, cook a meal to show you appreciate his hospitality.
• Obey the curfew, even if unspoken. Unless you are out with the host, don’t keep her up past her bedtime.
• Say thanks. Send a thank-you note while the visit is fresh in your mind.
How to be a good host
• Give guests a house tour. Let them know your home is their home.
• Stock bathroom with fresh towels, toothpaste and other necessities.
• Stock your pantry, if you know what they like.
• Come up with a schedule, and give them choices for activities.
• Accommodate their needs, such as vegetarians, physical limitations or allergies.
• Offer them use of the shower first.
