Carrollton — The Class AAAA top-ranked Fayette County girls have been doing a good job of living life on the edge.
The meeting with No. 2 Marist on Friday night shaped up as another contest built for late-game dramatics.

None were needed as Fayette (30-0) dominated from the start and rolled to a surprisingly easy 60-44 victory.
The Tigers shredded Marist’s defense at will off the dribble and hit nearly 61 percent of their shots (24 of 39). And Fayette held the War Eagles’ efficient offense to 31 percent from the field (15 of 49).
“We got them off the dribble a little bit,” Fayette coach John Strickland said. “The thing is we’ve been playing some tight games. So tonight we felt pretty good just to finally get a little bit of a lead.”
Fayette guard Tessah Holt, who hit a last-second, game-winning shot against Osborne earlier in the week, highlighted a game-breaking 9-0 run to open the second half by grabbing a rebound and passing ahead to junior Anma Onyeuku for an easy basket. Holt followed with a long jumper.
Marist went scoreless during the first 5:30 of the third quarter and fell behind 39-25. The War Eagles (28-3) never got within seven points.
Holt led with 18 points, junior Sasha Sims had 16 and Onyeuku 14. Tesia Davis scored 14 for Marist.
