Fayette Co. star may miss tournament opener

Fayette County star Noel Johnson could miss the Tigers’ state tournament basketball opener against Stone Mountain while recovering from a cut on his left hand.

Fayette coach Andre Flynn said Johnson, who signed with Southern Cal, received the cut during the Tigers’ Region 5-AAAA championship victory against Lithia Springs.

“I think he got cut by one of their players’ fingernails,” said Flynn, who said the cut required stitches. “It was just kind of a freak thing.”

The injury is to Johnson’s non-shooting hand, but “he uses his left hand for dribbing and passing and all those other things,” Flynn said.
