Roswell falls to Tift County

• Tift County 32, Roswell 21: Malcolm Dixon threw two scoring passes of 25 yards each to Jared Davis to lead Tift County over Roswell 32-21.
The game was a rematch of the 2006 semifinal game in the AAAAA playoffs, won by Roswell.

Tift led 19-7 at halftime and posted 13 third-quarter points to pull away.
• Coffee 24, Ware 0: A stingy Trojans defense shut down the Gators, the top-ranked team in Class AAAA. L’Shaun Smith tossed 21-yard and 15-yard scoring passes, and Aaron Lott kicked a 36-yard field goal in the upset victory. Coffee (1-0) led 10-0 at halftime and put away the game with two touchdowns in the third quarter.
• Gainesville 35, Chestatee 0: Blake Sims completed 18 of 20 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing score. Tailer Jones led receivers with eight catches for 158 yards and a touchdown. Teryan Rucker had seven catches for 56 yards and a score.
• Houston County 41, Groves 0: Robert Williams ran for 133 yards, capped by a 59-yard score, as the Bears (1-0) coasted to a 35-0 halftime lead. Garrick Davis added 130 yards rushing, including 1-yard and 9-yard scoring runs.
• Lincoln County 14, Greene County 0: Bo Reed was a perfect 9-for-9 passing for 139 yards to pace the fourth-ranked Red Devils. Major Elam led the defense with four sacks. Lincoln scored on a 7-yard run by A.G. Middlebrooks and a 6-yard run by Jafabian Green.
• Lowndes 63, Woodland-Stockbridge 0: The host Vikings showed why they’re the No. 1 team in Class AAAAA, opening a 56-0 halftime lead. The defending state champion had 277 yards rushing, led by Robert Anderson’s 63 yards and two scores. The Lowndes defense posted three interceptions.
• Northside Warner Robins 38, Perry 19: The No. 2-ranked Eagles opened their defense of their Class AAAA crown with a convincing victory against the Panthers. Xavier Bacon had 155 yards on 24 carries, including touchdown runs of 16 yards and 1 yard, for Northside. Jacorey Lane had 167 yards for Perry, topped by a 54-yard touchdown run.
• Putnam County 43, Hancock Central 6: Rydric Evans started the rout by catching a 25-yard, first-quarter pass from Devin Grimes, who was 5-for-7 for 86 yards passing on the night.
• Social Circle 38, Monticello 7: Justice Russell had 132 yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead the Redskins (1-0). Marvae Crawford added a 15-yard scoring run and also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Chase Lackey. Joe Standifer scored from 4 yards out for Monticello.
• Thomasville County Central 13, Thomasville 7: In one South Georgia’s most historic rivalries, the Yellow Jackets scored 13 fourth-quarter points to pull out the victory. Shawn Bryant led the way with 128 yards on 14 carries. Curtis Brooks added 61 rushing yards.
• Toombs County 22, East Laurens 21: C.J. Scott’s 3-yard run in the fourth quarter capped a Toombs comeback from a 14-7 halftime deficit. Matthew Tanner added the game-winning PAT. Alonzo Skinner had a 91-yard kickoff return for the Bulldogs (1-0). Scott ran for 120 yards on 20 carries. Hakeem Cannon scored on a 52-yard interception return for East Laurens, and teammate Terrance Lewis returned a fumble 39 yards for another score as the Falcons built an early 14-0 lead.
• Twiggs County 28, Wilkinson County 12: Javaras Mallard was 13-for-21 passing for 201 yards, including scoring tosses of 27 and 10 yards. Mallard also ran 1 yard for another score. Darqueze Dennard had five catches for 70 yards in the winning effort.
• Valdosta 48, Jenkins 7: Kyle Rowe completed 14 of 20 passes, including four touchdowns, to pace the No. 8-ranked Wildcats. Vashawd Johnson ran for 143 yards and two scores.
