Chamblee raced to a 20-point lead after one quarter and went on to rout Douglass 43-14 at North DeKalb Stadium.
Five plays into the opening drive, senior receiver/slot back Darius Jones, a member of the AJC Georgia 150, made like his big brother Roddy — one of Georgia Tech’s A-Backs — when he darted from the left wing of the formation back to the right, took a handoff from quarterback Garett Williams and sprinted 42 yards for a touchdown.

Chamblee’s defense forced Douglass to punt after five plays on its first possession, and the Bulldogs took over on their own 21-yard line. With Douglass focusing on tailback Warren Norman, also a Georgia 150 member, Williams kept the ball on an option and went 76 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the drive.
An interception by safety Shawn Martin stopped Douglass’ next drive at its own 39. Six plays later, Jones scored his second touchdown on a 15-yard run to put the Bulldogs ahead 20-0, after an unsuccessful point after attempt.
Things didn’t improve much for the Astros in the second quarter. Two plays into their next drive, Chamblee linebacker Dakarai Penn scooped up a fumble and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown.
Jared Clarke closed out the Bulldogs’ first-half onslaught with a 43-yard field goal to make the score 30-0 at intermission.
Douglass showed signs of life on the opening drive of the third quarter, when fullback Marcus Gamble capped a five-play, 59-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run, which was set up by a 52-yard pass from quarterback Braylon Williams Jr. to Charles Wells.
Then the Astros defense forced Chamblee to punt for the first time, and Douglass took over on its 26-yard line. But on the first play of the drive, Bulldog safety Briant Henry jarred the ball loose from Douglass running back Michael Patrick. Martin recovered for Chamblee at the Douglass 29-yard line, and three plays later, Jones scored for the third time on a 27-yard run, to give the Bulldogs their 30-point cushion again.
After Douglass junior running back Tommy Gooden answered with a 61-yard touchdown run to narrow the gap to 37-14, Norman’s 72-yard run capped the scoring and gave him 108 yards on 13 carries.
