• The dish: Mustangs' coach George Hansen thinks he has the best leadoff man in the state and it's hard to argue with Hall's numbers: .486 average; on base at a nearly .600 clip. He also stole 18-of-19 bases and will try to set the tone again for Kennesaw Mountain.

• The dish: Tieles did it all in 2006 for the Class AAA champions. He went 11-0 on the mound with a 2.04 ERA, 64 strikeouts and nine walks. Tieles, a University of Georgia signee, hit .459 with seven home runs and 47 RBI. In his final year at the Roswell school, Tieles is expected to do more of the same.

• The dish: The defending Class AAAAA state champions have their ace in Palazzone. The 6-3, 200-pound right-hander went 11-1 with a 2.43 ERA last season with 87 strikeouts in 72 innings pitched. He anchors an experienced staff hoping to lead the Trojans back to the state title series.

• The dish: Another gem wearing black and green in 2007. Means went 1-0 and saved three games in 2006 and has a live fastball that can hit the low 90s. In just 16 innings pitched, Means struck out 20 and walked three. That kind of late-inning dominance has Kennesaw Mountain dreaming of a state championship.

• The dish: Best known for his triumphs as a sophomore on the mound and at the plate during the Warhawks' Class AAAA state title march two years ago, Heyward turned around and had a great junior year in 2006. He hit .427 and stole 23 bases and will once again be the big bat in the middle of Henry County's lineup.

• The dish: Widely considered one of the premier leadoff men in the state, Rowland makes the defending Class AAAA champions go. Last year he hit .411, scored 54 runs and drove in 32 while hitting seven home runs. Rowland committed to Georgia Tech in December but has some work to do in his final year with the Wolf Pack.

• Junior
• The dish: Rich is another outstanding two-way player in Cobb County. He was 10-4 with a 2.79 ERA on the mound a year ago and hit .457 with five home runs and 35 RBI at first base.

• Senior
• The dish: Allen led the 2006 Hornets' staff with eight wins and struck out 66 batters in 60 1/3 innings. He's signed with Duke, but a stellar senior season could see Allen, along with teammate Jake Cowan (signed with Virginia), become draft picks.

• The dish: In his first year at Sequoyah (he transferred from nearby Cherokee High School), White exploded for 12 home runs, led the county in batting average (.506) and had 66 total bases. He'll join fellow senior Evan Martin (.380) to form one of the better infield tandems in the state.

• The dish: Yawn... Another stud pitcher in Cobb County. But it's best not to sleep on Green: He went 6-4 a year ago with a 1.97 ERA. Green also completed seven games, had two shutouts and whiffed 57 batters in 67 innings.

• Brent Allen, senior pitcher, Heritage: Allen was 8-0 on the hill for the Patriots in 2006 and is 13-2 over the last two years.
