Rookie point guard had been playing his best ball

Hawks coach Mike Woodson was still waiting to hear about rookie point guard Acie Law IV's visit to see a hand specialist in Los Angeles.
Law missed Monday's game against San Antonio at AT&T Center and could miss more time with the sprained right wrist he sustained in Wednesday's loss to Sacramento, depending on the word from the doctor.

"We don't know anything yet," Woodson said before the game. "As soon as we hear from the doctor we can make our adjustments accordingly. But until then, we have to get out there and go to work without him."
Law had two of his better outings of the season before injuring his wrist driving to the basket against the Kings. He had 13 points in a loss to Charlotte before the All-Star break and then had 16 points, three assists and three steals in a loss to the Lakers.
He was on his way to another strong showing against the Kings, he had seven points in just 16 minutes of action, before hitting the floor on that drive.
"That's the tough part right now for Acie," Woodson said. "Every time it seems like he's getting into a good rhythm he seems to get hurt."
Law missed 12 games earlier this season with a sprained ankle and two more with a sprained wrist.
• No respect: Respect is apparently hard to come by when you own the NBA's longest playoff drought.
The scoreboard operator at AT&T Center didn't even bother to change the visiting team's name from the Spurs' last game; they defeated the New Orleans Hornets.
Nearly four minutes passed before someone noticed the error and changed the digital scoreboard so it read Hawks.
• Banner city: Rookie center Al Horford's first trip to AT&T Center brought back a familiar feeling for the two-time NCAA Champion from Florida.
The first thing he noticed when the Hawks hit the floor for Monday morning's shootaround practice was the four NBA championship banners hanging in the rafters.
"It's like being in Gainesville," Horford joked. "Twice."
• New faces: The Hawks aren't the only team integrating a new face (Mike Bibby) into the mix these days.
The last time the Hawks faced the Spurs Damon Stoudamire, Salim's older cousin, was with Memphis and Kurt Thomas was with Seattle. Both veterans were added for the Spurs' playoff push.
