Piedmont offers classes for expecting parents

Parents-to-be are invited to attend several classes offered by the Maternity Center at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Among the offerings:
Breastfeeding Basics - The Maternity Center at Piedmont Fayette Hospital offers a three-hour group participating discussion on the benefits of breastfeeding and instructions. The class includes information on preparing for breastfeeding and getting started in the hospital and at home. Fathers, partners and support persons are welcome to attend. The next class is from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 14 in the conference room on the third floor of the hospital's 1279 building. For information and to register, call 770-719-6005.
Prepared Childbirth Class -- The course is recommended for women 20 to 28 weeks pregnant and provides an eight-hour childbirth education class that teaches moms-to-be and their partners about what to expect during labor and delivery. Expecting parents will learn about relaxation, breathing techniques and the various stages of labor. The class is $85 and includes light refreshments. Participants need to bring two pillows and a blanket or towel. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 21. To register or for additional information. 770-719-6005.
