Morehouse School of Medicine’s Mary Langley has been honored with the Prevention Pioneer in Georgia Award for her “continual dedication and contributions to prevention in Georgia.”

The Georgia School of Addiction Studies made the presentation during its third annual conference.

A certified parenting educator and co-author of a curriculum for single African-American parents for the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy, Langley has written several grants to implement community-based prevention and substance abuse treatment programs, as well as school-based abstinence education and remediation programs for rural school systems.

For more than 20 years, she also has worked with the faith community helping various churches develop prevention programs for youth and families and organization development.
