Like many people their age, University of Georgia students Jared Wolny and Tessa Komer live much of their lives on social networking Web sites.
When the pair started dating in August 2007 after meeting online, they posted sappy love notes other on facebook.com and myspace.com for everyone to see. The camera-happy pair took hundreds of photos together, from trips to Colorado to tailgating at Georgia games, and Wolny quickly uploaded them to the popular sites.

But love didn't last.
Now, Wolny is charged with more than 30 counts of computer theft and computer invasion of privacy for allegedly using the sites that brought them together to harass his ex.
Athens police say Wolny tracked Komer's Internet use and hacked into her myspace account, posing as Komer to send messages to her new love interest. He also posted pictures of Komer in the shower, covered in foam, on facebook.com, using his sister's account to "tag" Komer in the pictures, so the photos would appear on her page also, police say.
Wolny admits he sent the messages and posted the pictures, but said he never imagined his actions were criminal.
"I don't want to go to jail just because we had a bad break-up," he said Friday. Komer did not respond attempts to reach her by phone and e-mail, but she told her story to police, according to the police report.
Wolny, 24, was arrested May 23 and is out $6,400 bond — $200 for each of the 32 counts against him.
The students' relationship had a whirlwind start. They moved in together just a few weeks after they met, Wolny said. They bought a Great Dane puppy and promise rings, he said, before breaking up in January.
Komer, 21, told police she stayed in the apartment but the pair no longer shared a bedroom. She called police later that month, saying Wolny wouldn't let her in her car after threatening to follow her on a date, according to a police report.
In March, Komer invited a male friend she'd met on myspace.com to the apartment for the weekend. She told police Wolny put a fog machine next to the air conditioning vent, filling the house with fog. He placed pictures of himself and Komer around the apartment when she and her guest left the room, she told police.
After her date left on Sunday, Wolny accessed Komer's myspace account and sent messages to her new love interest, posing as her. The messages revealed personal medical information and said Komer still had feelings for Wolny, according to police records. She moved out the next day and filed for a temporary restraining order.
Wolny said Friday he was depressed and angry that Komer was dating.
"This whole thing has been blown way out of proportion," he said.
Wolny installed spyware software on Komer's computer in December and had been monitoring her Internet activity, according to the police report. He saved copies of Komer's passwords and looked at her school work and her online conversations with her friends, police said.
He is charged with 14 felony computer theft counts for accessing Komer's computer and removing data, 14 counts of felony computer invasion of privacy for looking at her information and several other charges, including felony identity fraud for impersonating her on myspace.
Athens Clark County Det. Dustin Smith said the case is ongoing and he can't discuss details. Police turned Wolny's and Komer's computers over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for forensic examination. There is a nine-month wait for results from the GBI lab. Smith said the case was a "learning experience" for police.
"This was kind of a first for this sort of thing," he said.
The case could be a ground breaker. More and more computer savvy lovers turn to tracking software and social networking sites in relationships that begin, exist and often end in cyberspace. Facebook even allows users to update their "relationship status"—- broadcasting a broken heart whenever two people "break up" online.
Wolny said he's lost his job and his apartment because of the investigation. On his facebook page Friday, his status message read: Jared Wolny "no longer has anything left in his life. Somebody has managed to ruin everything."
Komer's page has a picture of her kissing another man.
