SUCCESS STORY
Scott Morrow loses 139 pounds• Former weight: 372 pounds
• Current weight: 233 pounds
• Pounds lost: 139
• Height: 6 feet 2 inches
• How long he's kept it off: Started in January 2007 and still working toward his goal weight of 220 pounds.
• Personal life: "I work for Norfolk Southern in Midtown Atlanta as a supply chain analyst. I reside in Stockbridge."
• Turning point: "My turning point was when I went to my dentist in January 2007 for a root canal and was told that my blood pressure was too high for my dentist to perform the procedure," he says. "Basically, I was kicked out of my dentist's office and told to come back when my blood pressure was under control. Wow — what a wake-up moment."
• Diet plan: Morrow follows Weight Watchers' plan and attends weekly meetings. For breakfast, he has oatmeal or bran cereal and a banana and skim milk. Lunch is usually a salad from the restaurant Dressed in Midtown. "I've eaten there so often that the staff starts preparing my order as soon as I walk through the door," says Morrow. Dinner is grilled chicken with vegetables and salad.
• Exercise routine: Morrow attends boot camp class at Colony Square Athletic Club three days a week. He also wears a pedometer and walks 10,000 steps a day (about 5 miles) seven days a week. "I encourage everyone to go out and purchase a good pedometer. It will definitely motivate you," he says.
• Biggest challenge: "Being so heavy at the start of my weight-loss journey, I found it a bit difficult to undertake physical activities without quickly tiring myself," he says.
• How life has changed: He's gone from a 52-inch waist down to 38 inches, and colleagues and friends are amazed at the transformation. "I now look forward to daily exercise and keeping myself physically fit," he says.
