Michelle Anderson, of Logansville, loses 109 pounds

Height: 5 feet 5 inches
How long she’s kept it off: Anderson started in November 2004 and reached her weight loss goal in January 2006. She’s kept it off for 3 years.
Personal life: Anderson works in the healthcare field taking care of children with blood disorders and cancer. She is currently working toward a Master’s degree. She lives in Loganville with husband, Randy Thomas.
Turning point: “When I got married, I just let myself go,” she says. She found she was eating out all the time and not exercising. One day she looked in the mirror and knew this was not the person she wanted to be. When a co-worker said she lost weight with the help of personal trainer, Jeff Jones, Anderson decided to give him a call.
Diet plan: “My diet plan consists of cutting out sweets, sodas, and some carbs completely,” she says. Breakfast is oatmeal with fruit or cereal and a glass of orange juice. Lunch is turkey on wheat bread or a salad. Dinner is grilled or baked chicken with lots of vegetables, and for dessert, a 90-calorie Weight Watchers’ cake.
Exercise routine: “I work out 3 to 4 times a week,” she says. “My workout consists of cardio and weightlifting for about 2 to 3 hours.” In the winter, she does a variety of exercises including: squats, jumping rope, running, weight lifting, abdominal workouts, StairMaster, push ups, toe taps and knee lifts. “In the summer time, we are outside a lot – running 2 to 3 miles and then walking up the hill backwards and lunging up and down the hill.”
Biggest challenge: “My biggest challenge was staying on track with exercising four days a week and eliminating sugars all together,” she says.
How life has changed: “I have more confidence in myself. I look great and feel great,” she says. “I am very proud myself and I did it without doing any type of surgery.”
