A two-acre, wooded tract in Roswell featuring a ravine and creek will be set aside and preserved as a pocket park.
The woodland, in the Brookfield West subdivision, will be turned over to the Roy and Tillie Land Preserve, a non-profit land trust led by Mayor Jere Wood and his sister, Mary Jo Osteen.
The city of Roswell will hold a conservation easement for the site. The property is now held by the developer of Brookfield West.
A dedication ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 2.
Wood, who grew up on Woodstock Road, about two miles from the site, said he and his older sister used to hike to the spot as children. “It has not changed,” he said. “It’s great to be able to preserve that for other kids.”
