Georgia and Georgia Tech will try again Tuesday to renew their baseball rivalry.
The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Foley Field in Athens.
The teams were supposed to play March 25, but poor weather canceled that game. Today’s forecast calls for temperatures in the low 60s and sunny skies.
No. 8 Georgia (29-6) will send out left-hander Chase Hawkins (3-1, 2.88 ERA). No. 12 Georgia Tech (21-8-1) will counter with lefty Jed Bradley (1-2, 4.50).
The rivals will meet again May 12 at Turner Field.
It’s the first of five straight road games for Tech, which plays at Georgia State at 6 p.m. Wednesday and then travels to Wake Forest for a weekend ACC series.
The Jackets have been led offensively by Luke Murton (.367, 9 HRs, 33 RBIs), Tony Plagman (.344, 8 HRs, 39 RBIs) and freshman Matt Skole (.356, 8 HRs).
Rich Poythress has been Georgia’s biggest offensive threat, hitting .430 with 16 homers and 60 RBIs. Joey Lewis (.346, 11 HRs, 15 doubles) and Bryce Massanari (.361, 10 HRs) also have provided power.
The Bulldogs are 17-4 at home this season.
