Georgia Tech’s Roddy Jones dislocates wrist

Georgia Tech running back Roddy Jones injured his wrist earlier this week, but team officials are hopeful that the sophomore will be healthy by the season opener.
Jones dislocated his right wrist while doing a workout routine. He was checked out by team doctors, who decided that Jones should wear a brace.
“It was a normal, routine weight workout,” Jones said in a statement. “It’s just a freak accident.”
The 5-foot-9, 192-pound Jones will miss some preseason practices, but is expected to return to full strength when Georgia Tech begins its season against Jacksonville State on Sept. 5.
Any hand or wrist injury is considered to be serious for a running back because of how he has to handle the ball, and Jones is critical to the success of Georgia Tech’s rushing attack, keeping defenses from focusing on fellow running back Jonathan Dwyer, the 2008 ACC Player of the Year.
Jones, who played at Chamblee High, had a career-high 214 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries in Tech’s 45-42 win over Georgia last season.
