Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Georgia Tech had its day in the sun Wednesday at the state Capitol.

Coach Paul Johnson and B-back Jonathan Dwyer visited the Senate and House chambers, where they received resolutions commending them for their roles in Tech’s 9-4 season.

“I got to meet some important people,” Dwyer said. “I thanked them for their support that y’all have given to us, let them know what we’re doing, that we’re working hard and getting ready for the next year.”

The Senate and House resolutions hailed Johnson and Dwyer for winning ACC coach and player of the year honors, among other things.

Dwyer refrained from talk about rival Georgia, aware that many congressmen are UGA alumni.

“They had their little (Georgia) pins on and stuff like that,” he said. “They had respect for us and we have respect for them. They’re a prestigious school, as well.”
