CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson's Cullen Harper is a preseason candidate for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Harper, a graduate of Sequoyah High in Alpharetta, is one of 26 players vying for the annual honor, named for the former Baltimore Colts quarterback. The award given each year since 1987 to the college football's top senior quarterback will be presented Dec. 5 in Baltimore.
Harper set 21 Clemson records in 2007 to lead the Tigers to a 9-4 mark and a No. 21 ranking in the final AP Top 25 poll. He led the Atlantic Coast Conference in passing efficiency, throwing for 2,991 yards with 27 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Harper is one of two ACC quarterbacks on the preseason list, along with Sean Glennon of Virginia Tech.
