A Troup County middle school teacher has been arrested on child molestation charges, school officials said.

Elizabeth Gaddy, a 7th-grade social studies teacher at Callaway Middle School, was charged with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes, said Catherine Holmes, spokeswoman for Troup County schools.

Holmes said Gaddy had been on administrative leave since Nov. 20 while school officials conducted an investigation into “her professional conduct.”

“No allegations of sexual misconduct had been made to school officials at that time,” Holmes said.

“The school investigation ran concurrently with a criminal investigation … which was prompted by information taken directly to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office by parents,” Holmes said. “Results of their investigation led to charges.”
