Rashard Mendenhall gets bulk of fantasy work; Andre Ellington still shines

By Sharona Sports

Arizona Cardinals running back Rashard Mendenhall rushed 17 times for 43 yards (2.5 YPC) and a touchdown in the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers. He was also targeted twice in the passing game for seven yards.

Meanwhile, rookie running back Andre Ellington rushed seven times for 52 yards (7.4 YPC) and caught four passes for 31 yards. Mendenhall continues to get the bulk of the carries even though Ellington is clearly the more talented of the two. Fantasy owners are keeping a close eye on the situation as it seems certain Ellington will continue to see his role increase.

Fantasy impact: This platoon is making less sense by the game as Ellington continues to shine and is seeing his role increase. While Mendenhall is currently the starter and getting the bulk of the carries, you can expect that to change at some point. Ellington is already earning more playing time and he is making the most of his opportunities. Look for Ellington to continue to rise and if he is available in your league you should rush to pick him up. The Cardinals do have a tough matchup in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers.
