Hakeem Nicks returns to life for fantasy owners and records 142 yards in loss

By Dan Ciarrocchi

Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks returned to fantasy dominance despite the team's 36-21 loss to the Eagles.

With much attention being paid to Nicks' counterpart Victor Cruz, Nicks took advantage of single coverages and caught nine passes for 142 yards, although his day could have been even bigger.  Though Nicks did not record a touchdown for the fifth straight game, he was targeted in the end zone but had a ball slip through his hands on a fade route. Nicks and Cruz had 12 targets each, but it was Rueben Randle who led the Giants with 13 at the end of the afternoon.

Fantasy Spin: Though the Giants' performance was anything but refreshing for fans and coaches, it was an encouraging performance for Nicks' fantasy owners. Nicks entered the game with a fractured finger, which would make any receiver's job harder, but he showed more life than his previous two outings, where he posted a combined 33 yards.

Things could have only gotten better for Nicks after such dismal performances, and amid an offense that will continue to air it out while its backfield is in disarray, Nicks should continue to produce at a WR2 level. He will have a difficult matchup against the Bears on a short week, but the chances for Nicks to capitalize should be apparent once more.
