Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy was removed from the Tigers' game against Ole Miss on a stretcher, after apparently injuring his neck on the final play of the first quarter.

McKinzy, along with several other Auburn defenders, were chasing Ole Miss Bo Wallace and attempting to bring Wallace down in the back field. He went low on the Rebels' signal caller and was caught awkwardly between Wallace and Auburn defensive tackle Montravius Adams. Adams appeared to be shaken up on the play, too, and limped off the field.

McKinzy stabilized, but was seen talking to teammates before being carted off the field. Sideline reporter Dawn Davenport later said he had movement in all extremities.

At the end of one quarter, Auburn holds a 13-3 lead over Ole Miss. Tre Mason opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown plunge, and Robenson Therezie extended the lead with a 78-yard interception return to the end zone. Going into the second quarter. Ole Miss has the ball, 3rd-and-9 on the Auburn 49.
