Black Enterprise Magazine recently unveiled 2007 Power Players under 40 including four names in fashion:
Nana Boateng, 30, designer (and cousin of Oswald Boateng) has outfitted everyone from Forest Whitaker to Derek Luke. He’s planning a men’s ready to wear line next year.
Kimora Lee Simmons, 32, creative director of Phat Fashions LLC needs little introduction. She has become a brand with Baby Phat merchandise and her own TV show.
Shane and Shawn Ward, 34, Founders of Detny are identical twins who launched a shoe collection in 2003. Their footwear is now sold in Nordstrom, Macy’s and more.
Venus Williams, 27, professional tennis player and fashionista who is launching EleVen, a clothing line at Steve & Barry’s that will retail for under $20.
Atlanta has a few fashion up & comers of color under 40 as well (and we’re not just talking Mychael Knight of Project Runway fame)…
