Black Friday Frenzy

According to a recent survey by Maritz Research, members of Gen X & Gen Y are more likely to shop during Black Friday madness.

Maybe they’re the only ones with the patience to endure long lines and crowds.

Do you plan to shop on Black Friday?

What stores will you hit and what promotions are you most excited about? (And don’t forget to tell your age).

Heck no, I do not have the patience for this!!! I’m 38, and to me the bargains aren’t good enough for all of the mayhem you will endure……….and most stores haven’t stocked enough of any one item to make it worth it!!!!!!!

I used to, when I was in college (late ’90s). It seemed exciting then, and I didn’t have much money to spend on gifts, so I liked to see if I could find the best deals. Plus, I was really into gadgets and software in those days. Now, not so much. Every year, though, I wound up getting annoyed at something — people breaking in line, standing next to people in line who were using really offensive words in conversation (and I’m not an easily offended kind of gal), and just a general overimportance placed on expensive gifts.

These days, I use Black Friday to sleep in and stay away from the malls.

I have been shopping on Black Friday for as long as I can remember. Some years have been more fun than others, but each was worth it. Its a time to bond with my friends. This year I am taking my 10 year old daughter with me and will make this a yearly ritual for us. She is really excited!!

My mother & I actually go to the Mall of Georgia on Thanksgiving night, after our family celebration of course, and spend the night in a hotel right there. We are at Toys R Us when it opens & we hit as many stores as we can in those early bird hours, we hit several malls that day & usually don’t get home till 10 - 11 that night, we LOVE it!!!!! I have 3 children & my husband keeps them so we can shop till we drop, literally, I look forward to it all year…………it’s my kind of “high”!!!!! Can’t wait!!!!

We all wonder what is wrong with our world and then we see people just going crazy the day after Thanksgiving, during what is supposed to be a time for family and friends and being together. Some simply cannot wait to get their “high” through a shopping excursion and more materialism. This is what you are leaving your children as a leagacy. Wake up.
