Sugarland talks Style
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlantan Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland recently wrapped a concert in town and shared a few thoughts on matters of style:
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a little organic, a little hippie-chic, but it’s always easy. No matter how glamorous the occasion, if I’m not relaxed and comfortable, I probably won’t wear it! When I’m dressing to be glamorous, I’ll wear Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Chloe. For clothes to I wear on stage, I like Twelfth Street, Velvet, and Catherine Malandrino.
Q: What was the last thing you purchased?
A:I think the last thing I bought was actually a new pair of yoga pants (I do lots of yoga)!
Q: Where do you shop?
A: I absolutely love Atlanta boutiques. The fashion scene has really evolved and malls aren’t the only option — Jeffrey, Kaleidescope, Squash Blossum and Kelly’s Closet are some of my favorites.
Q: What is the most important element of style?
A: I keep my style simple with products that are not high maintenance. One stress-free product that I really love are the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips. A beautiful smile is a big part of one’s style, and with the strips, I can whiten anytime, anywhere - I even wore them during my meet and greet yesterday!
Q: Do you think Atlanta has changed much?
A: In terms of style, I think Atlanta has become a lot less local and traditional in the past 10 years or so. Atlanta fashion can be so sophisticated and chic, there are these amazingly diverse, well-dressed people all over the place. What I love about Atlanta now is that there are so many really unique, new shops. I can spend hours browsing around the Virginia Highlands, Poncey-Highlands and Little 5 Points looking for new styles.
I’m on the road 280 days a year but Atlanta will always be my hometown.
