Crazy talk in New York
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
AJC fashion writer Nedra Rhone is sending updates from the runways of Fashion Week in New York.
Maybe there’s just something about Fashion Week that causes tensions to run high. Right about now, I’m really happy to have that bottle of gel-coated aspirin from a Day One goodie bag.
Here are some of the headache inducing conversations I’ve recently been exposed to:
First conversation: Fashion girl 1: “The people at [a fashion house that shall remain nameless] are so annoying.” Fashion girl 2: “Yeah, they bother you all the time.” Fashion girl 1: “Like once I was driving and it was 8 p.m. and my cell phone rang and I was like ‘Hello?’ and it was them. Fashion girl 2: “No!”
(FYI: Fashion Girl 1 tried to hurdle a lane divider because she thought seat holders were being allowed in while the rest of us underlings waited in line. That was not the case.)
Second conversation: Girl: “There are so many people in here, how can you see anything [on the runway]?” Guy: “That’s why models are so tall.”
Ummmm. OK.
My hotel is next to the Church of Scientology, I’m beginning to think it’s kismet.
