Jerious Norwood might take direct snaps

Flowery Branch — Running back Jerious Norwood noted how Miami’s Ronnie Brown accounted for five touchdowns while taking direct snaps in the shotgun formation last week against New England.

The Falcons have deployed a similar formation with Norwood at the controls.

“I got a chance to see a few clips,” Norwood said. “Ronnie Brown did a great job. He scored four touchdowns and he threw one. He had a good game that day.”

Peace and quiet

The last time the Falcons (2-1) started the season 3-1 was in 2006, Jim Mora’s last season.

“We’ve had zero distractions,” linebacker Keith Brooking said. “The environment around here has been very positive and guys have been working extremely hard.”

Mughelli’s nickname search

Fullback Ovie Mughelli asked for some help finding him a nickname on his blog.

“I have 213 different messages from fans,” Mughelli said. “I was laughing out loud last night when I was looking through them.”

He will pick the winning nickname.
