Flowery Branch — Falcons left tackle Sam Baker, who sustained a concussion Sunday against Tampa Bay, returned to practice Wednesday.

Baker sustained the injury while attempting to make a cut-block. He hit his head on a players’ leg, became woozy and had to be escorted off the field. “I think it was a knee,” Baker said. “I was just doing my job.”

The Falcons traded up to draft Baker in the first round of the 2008 draft. Baker, who took control of the left tackle position during offseason workouts and opened the season as the starter, said he has never sustained a head injury before.

“I’ve never been out like that,” Baker said. “It didn’t look like much.”

In the team’s official injury report released Wednesday, Baker’s injury was listed as a concussion. It had been described as a “blow to the head.”

“It was tough because I wasn’t really sure what was going on during the game,” Baker said. “That made it a little easier. You know, watching film, it was tough to watch.”

Baker went down in the second quarter, and veteran Todd Weiner finished the game.

If Baker is ready to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, he’ll have a tough matchup against defensive end Tamba Hali.

“He plays hard, to the whistle so you have to stay after him,” Baker said. “He’s a really talented guy and he plays really, really hard.”

Other players listed on the injury report included linebacker Michael Boley (neck), defensive tackle Grady Jackson (knee), center Alex Stepanovich (back) and Weiner (knee). They were all limited in practice.
