Georgia Tech to wear retro basketball uniforms

Saluting three anniversary teams that did something special, Georgia Tech’s men’s basketball teams will wear throwback uniforms in each game of the upcoming season.

Tech’s home white uniforms will resemble those from 50 years ago, with simple block gold letters spelling out “TECH” and gold trim. Those 1960 Yellow Jackets, led by All-American Roger Kaiser, made the NCAA Tournament for the first time as an automatic qualifier out of the SEC.

Tech’s road gold uniforms will replicate the 1985 and 1990 versions, with “GEORGIA TECH” stylized and stacked on the front and the player’s number in between. The shoulders, neck and shorts are trimmed in blue and white, and a “GT” logo appears on each hip.

The 25th anniversary team, featuring All-Americans Mark Price, John Salley and Bruce Dalrymple and future All-American Duane Ferrell, won the first of Tech’s three ACC titles and reached the Elite Eight.

Then 20 years ago, fueled by the “Lethal Weapon 3” trio of Brian Oliver, Dennis Scott and Kenny Anderson, Tech made the Final Four for the first time before falling to eventual champion UNLV. That team also won the ACC championship.
