Ring Around the (Departing) Rosie
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Rosie, we hardly knew ye.
Uh, right! What DIDN’T we know and learn about Rosie O’Donnell in the eight months (good grief, has it really only been that long?) since she took over (literally, some say) as co-host of “The View”:
She doesn’t like Donald Trump. She likes to do arts and crafts. She has verrrrry strong feelings about the President of the United States and the Iraq War. And she loves not backing down from a fight.
Or does she? Now here’s something else we just learned: She’s quitting.
O’Donnell will leave “The View” at the end of her contract, sometime in mid-June, ABCNEWS.com just confirmed. They oughta know. “The View” airs on ABC stations and the show was invented by ABC News legend Barbara Walters, long the best known member of the chattering team around the table most mornings.
In fact, though, O’Donnell’s outsized personality and statements had overshadowed Walters almost from the moment the onetime standup comedienne took over for Meredith Vieira last September. Only a few months after an unflattering dustup involving Walters’ role in the leavetaking of Star Jones Reynolds, Walters found herself back in a harsh spotlight as she tried to referee the war of words between O’Donnell and Trump.
But Walters says the parting is completely amicable. In a statement just released Walters said “The View” couldn’t come to terms with O’Donnell on extending her contract, adding, “I induced Rosie to come back to television on ‘The View’ even for just one years. She has given the program new vigor, new excitement and wonderful hours of television. I can only be grateful to her for this year. I am very sad that ABC Daytime could not recach an agreement with her for a second year.”
Said O’Donnell, who saw “The View’s” ratings skyrocket since she joined the table: “This has been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn’t have traded for the world. Working with Barbara, Joy and Elizabeth has been one of the highlights of my career, but my needs for the future just didn’t dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me.”
O’Donnell didn’t say what she’ll do next, but rumors have circulated about everything from her headlining another daytime talk show to replacing Bob Barker on “The Price Is Right.” Meanwhile, with “The View” still looking for someone to replace Reynolds, there was no word on who’ll take O’Donnell’s place at the table. Hmm, what about Trump? Nope, he’s the wrong gender. And compared to Rosie, he’s too shy.

It seems the American public still hates a strong woman with an opinion. I find it odd that this seems to be the year of a female candidate for president.
I am not a huge fan of Rosie, but she did exactly what she was hired to do. She brought attention to The View. She is entitled to her opinion just as any conservative talk show host is. What you see with Rosie is what you get. You always know where she stands on an issue unlike many of you I dare say.
I think you will see Rosie with her own show once again. I look forward to it. she makes for good TV in a time when the networks do not.

Barbara Walters should hang her head in shame that she allowed this rude, obnoxious nut bag to shout her drivel for so long! She should never call herself a journalist again. Personally, I like Rosie. Always have, even when she was on low-budget shows on FOX. I don’t agree with everything she says, but I liked her talk show, and though I didn’t much watch The View, I have to give it to her — she brought, well, a VIEW to the table. As in, her opinion, which she neither defenestrated on a whim, or obfuscated with a bunch of hokey rhetoric. She said what she had to say, and that was that. More folks should do the same.
Maybe Rosie decided to spend more time with her kids and loved ones. I’ve given up TV-watching for the most part, and decided to do the same. Someone’s always gonna spin stuff on television and in the media. Enjoying life with the people who are Real in our lives is what joy and beauty and entertainment are truly found, and in abundance…

This is a wild “guess”, but it would appear to me that a large majority of all the above comments have come from people other than “conservatives” which is verrrry interesting. Could it be that the “dislike” for O’Donnell transends “other” feelings we all have about a multitude of other subjects, i.e. Iraq, the war on terror, politics, etc. I think we all can see mean spiritedness and plain “wickedness” when it jumps right up in your face as has been the case with O’Donnell forever!!! She “attacks” everyone and everything. “Shock TV”, i.e. O’Donnell and Springer should only be on “pay for view”. I am a strong believer in free speech, but that doesn’t give me the right to enter a movie theater and start shouting fire, fire, fire!!! Basically in a word…. O’Donnell is classless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And $$$$$ can’t buy it Rosie!!!!!!

You guys are a bunch of hateful people. Instead of making good arguments for why Rosie should not be on TV, you resort to name calling and viscous attacks on her body image. What does that say about you? You are polluting the air with stupid remarks and name calling the same way that Rosie does and yet your criticizing her? Maybe you should analyze yourselves before analyzing someone else. Then maybe you will realize that your the problem not anyone else.

I beg to differ! I make sure my morning work is finished before 11:00 so that I can watch the show. Those of you saying that you “have never watched the show, but hate Rosie” have no idea the kind of fight that she’s put up for our country. She is on a daytime talk show that is appropriately called “The View”, it’s not just a coincidence that she’s not on the “The Today Show”!! Perhaps you should watch the show to see the kind of support she DOES give to children w/ Autism, people still suffering from Katrina, the lobbying she does for adoption. Everyone has their opinions about the government, and disagreements with the way people in the spotlight handle themselves…she just happens to have a platform to share hers. As an american and more specifically, an Atlantan, it’s important that we listen & respect the differences and culture where we live. In my opinion, Atlanta is one of the best examples of having to deal with the differences in others. If we’d open our eyes and realize that other people have so much to teach us, it may cause us to question whether WE do enough for others and encourage us to be better humanitarians. Perhaps it’s just as simple as “take(ing) a little time to enjoy the view”!!!!!!

Geez, what venom! I love Rosie, she is the only reason I watch the View. It was too much like a henfest-tea party before she came on board.
She will still be guest hosting from time to time, so I will be watching for that. Plus, any other project she gets involved in I will watch for.
She did not get fired, as you people seem to think she did. She had a one year contract, and is working that out. ABC wanted to give her a THREE year contract, which she refused. The ratings have soared since she has been there.
If you don’t like The View, don’t watch. If you don’t like Rosie, don’t watch. Seems very simple to me….

Rosie-Where are OUR standards in life yet alone television? Children watch the show too. She has no class…and she is a mother to four children? She has been a total embarassment to most everyone…women especially. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when it comes to trying to force it down the public’s throats it is too much. I have always had respect for Barbara Walters but her integrity and her show THE VIEW have been challenged and severely damaged.

What about IMUS (oh yeah, wrong sex). He’s got the disgusting pig down right though……BTW, I never watch the show anyway. When all the Rosie started spewing forth, that reinforced my desire to never watch it.
I put it right up there with watching any of the overrated, bloated-egos who love to hear themselves speak. I refuse to put any of my money in their pockets. Donald, O’Reilly, rosie, Streisand, Penn, Sheen, Baldwin. They are all the same. Why don’t they do something of real value and affect positive change instead lame criticism. Because they have no plan, just big mouths to match their big egos.

When she first came on the scene, I was a big Rosie fan. Since we came to the View, I have come to despise hearing her name. Everyone has opinions, true, but to assume that only your opinion is the right one is the height of arrogance, and does not deserve respect. If it’s a talk show, why wouldn’t she let other people talk? It’s just my opinion.

First, speaking your mind is not the same as being smart. Rosie is not smart when she speaks her mind nor is she funny when she tries to tell a ‘joke’. She is vulgar. I grew up thinking Barbara Walters was a woman to look up to, her career was what women of my time tried to strive for. Now I see her as a female Jerry Springer since her buddy Rosie came along. I can’t take anything Barbara Walters seriously. How sad that she seems to have taken more steps backward in her life. Rosie, I don’t care if you are gay, I don’t care if you are overweight, I don’t care if you ever have another daytime show, evening show, movie - I won’t pay to see it & thank God I can turn a channel! Who hires her to do the EM jobs anyway? Fire them!

Ever since she verbally blindsided Tom Selleck on her own talk show I knew she was an loudmouth and played off of that fact.
People can get their points across without slamming someone but after that display of hospitality on her show and then later, the 10 minute tirade over Donald Trumps combover on the View, I was proud to hear she could not come to terms with ABC and was being released.
Its amazing to me that Imus can get fired within a week for what he said and people fly out of the woodwork calling for his head, but Rosie, continues to verbally bash people and people defend her actions.

She’s smart, well-educated and a brilliant role model for “you CAN do it” for so many women who have struggled with obesity. They say that this generation will be the first one that has a shorter lifespan than the one before due to obesity. This trend has to be reversed and Star is in the lead.

Contractual disagreement?….. RIGHT? Ms. Walters and ABC have both proven that what is done behind closed doors is not always revealed to the viewing audience, unless it involves Star Jones. I don’t buy this story. Rosie may have brought viewership up but with all wrong type of attention. Who wants to see an unhappy lesbian start feuds on a weekly basis. I didn’t watch The View regularly before Rosie and I didn’t watch it regularly after Rosie. When I did manage to catch it during the occastional channel surf I saw what I always see when Rosie is around. Rosie talking about herself. Her thoughts, opinions, life, etc. She is so typical of someone whose ego has gotten completely out of control. It is all about Rosie 24/7. She even made the VT shootings about her and her opinions about gun control. She only manages to embarass herself everytime she opens her mouth which is constantly. I simply hope for a few months Rosie-Free.

To Jay If what Imus said to those female basketball players was telling it like he sees it, ie attacking a bunch of young girls for no reason, If you call attacking folks and calling them out of their names unprovoked “telling it like he sees it” then you need to join Imus in the unemployment line. his tail should have been fired. It was a totally unprovoked attack. Sends a message dont matter if your white black or green. when you put your big fat foot in your mouth. your wallet shrinks. My mother always used to say “Your mouth will hang you one day” I have seen alot of people get Hanged because of their mouths!” and deservingly so.

Rosie, Imus, Rappers, comedians all of those with Potty mouths insulting and attacking folks unprovoked, should hit them where it hurts, in the purse.the wallet. If Rosie got fired(which I doubt) oh well, she aint hurting for cash and is doing better then anyone of us on this post whether we like her or not. she’s white, has fan base. she will find another job.she will be fine. This is the USA. We are bias, one-sided and all other things. Rosie will be fine. Mark my words. I wish the hell I did have that kind of clout but afraid I am too dark. In my dreams maybe.

Rosie is indeed a lefty, pinko who I’ve never cared for (especially) with her attacks on the 2nd Amendment. However, she was fired for coming out (openly) regarding the 9/11 Truth movement. She openly questioned the fall of WTC7 on an episode and caught flack from the ABC brass. The Globalist Elite control “mainstream” media like ABC, and that’s why Rosie was fired…for supporting 9/11 Truth.

I am really torn b/c while I respect the fact that she speaks her opinion, I wonder when is it best to just “hold your tongue”? msteven…I didn’t say what Imus said was right, I just said he was voicing his opinion, but he got fired for it. This country has become a bunch of wimps and we need to concentrate on the THICKNESS of our skin instead of the COLOR of it. Without getting too far off the subject, why are AL and Jesse allowed to say anything they want and kep on going, but others can’t? Bryant Gumble made the comment about the winter olympics looking like a Republican convention for not having enough Black participants. Excuse me…it was the WINTER olympics…not too many Blacks care for the cold. So where was the outrage form that. NOWHERE…our flag should have DOUBLE STANDARD across it instead of stripes! So Jay since you think its apparently OK to attack folks unprovoked for no reason how would you had liked if a black dj called your son or daughter out” man there show is a bunch of rednecks, peck of wood, wet dog smelling crackers over there on that team!” on radio. you would demand they be fired. yeah your absolutely right. double standard. I aint sticking up for Rev Jess or Al. i dont care for either. Dont lump all black folks in the same can. Many of us blacks do not side with Rev jess or AI and dont use the race card. so again. your wrong. I dont care if Imus was black and said it against a white team. i would have said the Same thing. Again, when someone attacks one of your children unprovoked. see how you like it.Imus race had nothing to do with it. i would have said the same thing if he was black and many who Know me on this board Know I dont discriminate. As for Rosie. I aint got no problem with her. I may not agree with what she said but she had spunk and spirit. Like I said. Rosie will be all right. Imus, will be allright.(He got fired, totally up to his boss(I probably would have fined him hefty but it was up to his boss who chose to fire him. Yes we have a double standard in this country. But its not only with black rap.theres double standards in many other areas ie the justice system. Anyway, hopefully the country can do some cleaning up regardless of who’s mouth its coming out. The Rap today, I dont even listen to.Some of the Rap 25yrs ago I did listen to did not degrade women or use the N-Word and Gangster Rap evolved. ie NWA(Ice Cube) Ice Tea(cop killer) 2Pac and Public Enemy. Rap changed dramaticly and became vulgar.I refuse to listen or even have that type of music in my house. Never have, Never will. Its not my cup of tea. Neither is Heavy Metal, and some country. Some is unfit. such as that Gothic look(black lipstick, black finger nails black clothing) and worshiping the Satan.Pretty damn scary. And so are their lyrics. So America’s music needs a make over. .

Ladies and gentlemen - we may not all agree with Rosie’s “views” on events and life in general. I also might not agree with your take on life. However, my parents raised me well enough to teach me that insulting someone for their size is very immature and inappropriate, regardless of my feelings on the individual’s outspoken nature and inability to keep their mouth shut. I’m sorry that some people have to stoop to insults like this to get their point across, it really reflects poorly on our society as a whole.

Don’t be so sure Rosie was fired. The ratings for the show have soared since Rosie’s arrival which means ABC is making lots more money. The nasty rantings today against Rosie are surprising … and sad. She’s the left’s version of Bill O’Reilly … abrasive, egotistical, unyielding and often just plain rude. Rosie was a step away from being fired after her outburst two days ago when all the kids were in the audience and she used the F bomb over and over in the ranting and raving. She’ll get a new show and she will be cancelled, it is a simple fact. She is one of the most hated women in America, her approval rating, even in the gay commuinity, is very low. Again, she didn’t just leave the show, she was about to be fired.

The fact that everyone is talking about her shows the contrary. People talk about popular people. Good or bad, she is still popular. She is also a woman who has based her entire career off the entertainment industry, an industry which continues to make her a rich woman. Therefore, her being rich has a lot to do with it because it points to her staying power.

I don’t like the manner in which Starr Jones was dismissed. I think Barbara Walters is a bigot. This is apparent in the manner in which she conducts her interviews. She tries to belittle blacks and only sees the negatives but she is clearly afraid to stand up to Rosie. Rosie was upset because Starr would not reveal how she lost her weight. CLOSE YOUR MOUTH and STOP EATING. IN the end, everyone gets what they deserve. I am now waiting on Barbara Walters to get hers.

She needs to keep her mouth shut and -co-host with some dignity and respect. Everything has always got to be about Rosie, her life partner, her life and her children..she is a control freak and now ABC has finally come to their senses and lowered the boom on her not re-newing her contract! Whether it be her weight, or sexuality, temper, or mood swings Rosie has almost in defiance of all odds managed to carve out a career in entertainment. Ironic that Rosie continually spouts off about being inclusive, honoring others differences, etc. except when it comes to those she disagrees with then she launches an all out verbal tirade complete with the spewing of cuss word after cuss word. Where is her ‘compassion’ for her fellow man? Where is her ‘acceptance’ of others differing views and lifestyles? The bottom line is Rosie is a narrow minded, unforgiving bigot who bases her judgment on others who differ from her on preconceived notions and unfair bias’. Shame on her, what a horrible thing to use her ‘celebrity’ platform to alienate, disrespect and deny others their own views and feelings. Shame on her for being a terrible example of a human being for her children and the public. Her angry, unfair and bias tirades will only end until people are willing to stand up and call her on her nonsense. I say good riddance, her diatribe like anyone else’s, no matter what their political or personal views, who belittles and personally attacks others who don’t subscribe to her beliefs are just not worth listening to.

I never watched the view before or after that thing was a host, but I cannot STAND the woman. Unfortunately, my cuddly little kitty cat shares the same name with that ignorant, gruesome, dispicable creature. Kitty Rosie displays more human qualities and intelligence than that fool. Maybe she can replace her on The View; but Kitty Rosie is conservative. She and Elizabeth could be friends.

Finally…the mouth is gone. Maybe one of the other “ladies” on the panel will have a chance to view their opinions now. Personally, I think the entire show needs to be scrapped. It’s worthless, left-wing drivel.

Why is the South and most things that associate with the South turn out to be some ignorant person? I am a male and seen a few episodes. I do not agree with some of her opinions. It is her opinions and I do not hate her for it. The South suppose to be the Bible Belt, “yall Southern women should learn not to hate” because God shall punish you.

I seriously doubt she’s “quitting.” She is a worthless human being and has shown the world that. She did not get the $ SHE believes she deserves and therefore, “quit.” I am not one to say I’m sorry. She has brought down the show 100% as ratings will show once she’s gone. An opinionated gay bitch!

Hello msteven…AGAIN. First of all, how do you what color I am? (Hint: I’m not lumping all US blacks together.) Second, learn grammar if YOU’RE going to type here. You’ve got so many errors in YOUR rants I’ve had to hire a translator. YOU’RE so angry and bitter right now, you can’t even call people names correctly. FINALLY; and get someone to read this to you if you don’t understand; I NEVER SAID WHAT IMUS SAID WAS RIGHT, I JUST SAID HE WAS VOICING HIS OPINION! Where in that statement does it say I agree with his provoking and “calling someone out of their name” (an ebonics term I believe). As I said, there ARE double standards in large quanities ruining this country and we need to get rid of those before anyone can be happy. Since this is about “Rosie” get back to her and quit the personal attacks. Or is it because you have some ancestors that were “displaced” and you have to fight for THEIR dignity. Remember however…it was OUR people that sold them to the “boat drivers”!

And for those of you who contend she was not fired……..just bide your time. It will come out that she was. She was allowed (as was Star) to say what she wanted to the public to keep face. But watch the news programs, etc. and you will see that she was fired. Too many people began to boycott The View’s advertisers and Disney, among other things. And she put the final nail in the coffin at the dinner the other day when she was so abusive to multiple people, and in front of a group of 17 year old aspiring young journalists. Normally after Rosie has been on a program or at a dinner, etc., she talks about it the next morning on the View. You will notice that she was not allowed to mention that occasion at all on Tues. show. They were finished with her at that point and silenced her…..NONE TOO SOON!!!!!

ABC offered her $9Million for another three years. Their ratings have more than doubled in their time slot and they have trippled their advertising dollars brought in during the View’s time slot.
Rosie wasn’t fired, she is planning a new show. She was making over $30Million beofre she left her former show years ago.
Rosie has staying power and wether you like her or not, she will be on TV again after leaving the View. Star Jones was fired. She is the has-been.
Rosie is doing what she wants to do. Long live Rosie!!!!!

My dear Zonetha,
Law degrees are a dime a dozen these days. Star hasn’t practiced in over ten years although she is still current with the state bar in New York, it would take a mirricle for a reputable firm toi hire her due to her poor public image.
Her new Court TV show is falling apart as we speak. I am not here to wish bad things for Star but her future in the public eye is bleak at the moment. I wish her the best too.
Long live Rosie!!!!!!

And by the way Zonetha,
Esquire is a term no one uses anymore. It originated in England in the early 1700’s. It was associated with lawyers of that day. I thas no official meaning in terms of a law degree in modern history. The only people who use the term now are ones who try to elevate their true standing in society. Basically, esquire is a term of the past.
You should really be careful who you call trailer park becuase you seem a little misled in your own education.
I don’t even think Star would be ignorant enough to add the title of Esquire to herself. She is an Attorney at Law. That is what they are called point blank. Esquire…., give me a break.

I don’t watch the View & she is by far the primary reason why. Talk about someone who thinks the world should revolve around her opinions! I’ve never seen someone as loud-mouthed & aggravating as that woman! Every picture you see of her shows her mouth wide open, yapping about some injustice she feels. And I highly doubt the new show we know she’ll attempt to start will last. Hopefully it will go away quicker than her last pitiful attempt.

Rosie was the best thing that ever happened to conservatives. Her angry, bitter delivery made even the most credible arguments moot. She needs serious inner healings and has no clue that most all of us are the walking wounded. Why does she think everyone is fair game? I will never understand. She took the staff hostage to her tirades and irrational ways…and I feel deep concern for her “wife” and kids at home. If anyone thinks she keeps her toxic spirit under control after the time clock is punched, they too need a shrink. She had some valid points, I think the liberals need to find another spokesperson. As we know in the south, the unpleasant goes down better with some honey. Rosie’s honey pot has long been empty.
