The Full-Spin Zone
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It’s sorta like “Godzilla vs. King Kong” … You don’t know who to root for, but you hope there’s a lot of hitting and spitting and all-around mayhem involved.
Fox News said Tuesday that Bill O’Reilly and Stephen Colbert will make guest appearances on each other’s shows on the same night. The Great Meeting of the Semi-Great Minds will take place on Thursday, January 18.
It’s not known what the two men will talk about — only that they’ll both talk and talk — over, under and around each other. O’Reilly is the opinionated host of the top-rated “The O’Reilly Factor” (8 p.m. weeknights, Fox News) whom legions of fans swear by and plenty of detractors swear at. Colbert, the hotter-than-hot host of “The Colbert Report” (11:30 p.m. Mon-Thurs., Comedy Central), is performing either a laudatory homage to O’Reilly or a purposely over-pompous imitation of him, depending on which side of the couch you sit on.
Said O’Reilly Tuesday: “I’m really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me.”
Opined Colbert: “”I look forward to the evening. It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O’Reilly.”
May the best man win. We’re sure they each know exactly who that is.

This will be hilarious. I like Colbert. You left wing loons should give O’Reilly a shot too. He’s one of the few fair and honest broadcasters in the business. Pay attention; you’ll learn a lot.

ChrisD, either you’re 5 or Colbert is WAY over your head, he doesn’t praise O’Reilly on his show, he is mocking him (He hates him, just listen to his speak at the last years White House Correspondents Dinner). Never the less, O’Reilly needs to pull his head out of his ass, how does Colbert “owe [his] entire career” to Bill O? That is laughable.
PS The AJC keeps mentioning the fact that Bill O has the “top rated cable news program,” when in reality his ratings are plumiting (which is the only reason he is doing this) due to the fact that Fox News isn’t news, it’s a channel devoted to RNC talking points.

Two words: plastic surgery. Colbert, fix your ear. O’Reilley, fix your face.

Banger Calm down, you seem very rational (not really). Where are you getting you tv show ratings info? O’Reilly’s show is non partisan and provides a lot of information that you will never hear on may other “news” channels that is why it is so popular. Check him out you may change your mind.

This last election showed that the majority of americans do not agree with, and do not support O’reilly, Hannity, Rush, etc.

Jodeco,
Don’t bother with Banger. He believes himself to be an intellectually superior elitist democrat, but he comes off as nothing more than sycophant. He is trying to impress the vast community of liberal bloggers on the AJC by mimicking their attack style (ChrisD, either you’re 5 or Colbert is WAY over your head).
I am sure he believes that soon vast numbers of robot socialists like him will flood this blog with their “open-minded” opinions and fawn all over him for slapping down another conservative.

“Fox News isn’t news” says a commentor. There’s no such thing as ‘news’ on TV anymore. The day everything on TV became all about ratings, is the day that actual news programs disappeared. Now every program shows only what they think will get ratings or they report ‘news’ in such a way that gets viewers excited or angry or indignant. News on TV today is all about our emotional response not about what we need to know. Bill O’Reilly, Rush, Hannity and Colmes are opinion shows, not newscasts. The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are entertainment shows much like SNL used to be. Impartial news is not in evidence ANYWHERE on TV!
