An Acworth man charged with robbing three area banks while wearing a motorcycle helmet turned himself in to police Wednesday night.
Robin Tracy Harrington, 33, is charged with robbing a Regions Bank in Acworth and two Paulding County SunTrust banks. He is also being questioned by Cobb County police for a robbery the day before Thanksgiving.
The suspect entered the Regions Bank at 4590 Morningside Drive at the corner of Old 41 Highway in Acworth Nov. 28 with a tinted full face motorcycle helmet demanding money. A bank security camera got an image of Harrington when he removed the helmet at the teller’s counter.
He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Harrington is also charged with robbing the Community Trust Bank (now SunTrust Bank) at 3732 Cedarcrest Road in Paulding on June 12 and again on Sept. 24.
Acting on tips, Acworth and Paulding detectives searched Harrington’s home and found evidence to connect him to the three bank robberies, Acworth spokesman Major Wayne Dennard said. Harrington came home during the search, then left when he saw the police. Detectives reached him by phone and convinced him to turn himself in.
He is being held on $50,000 bond in the Cobb County jail.
