Published on: 06/02/08

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) — The Georgia highway known as "The Battlefield Route" will become "The Bargain Route" this weekend as thousands of visitors are expected to descend on north Georgia for the 90-mile Dixie Highway Yard Sale.

The route spans 13 communities, including Ringgold, Tunnel Hill, Rocky Face, Dalton, Resaca, Calhoun, Kennesaw and Marietta. The sale is in its third year and was created to promote tourism in the area. Past buyers have scored finds including baked cakes, smoked barbecue, chenille bedspreads — even a kitchen sink.
