A Barnesville mother was arrested Saturday night after leaving her 4-month-old twins in her locked car while shopping at a Clayton County Wal-Mart.
The infants, who weren’t harmed, were discovered by another shopper who could hear their cries through the cracked windows of Janesia Williams’ Toyota Scion.

“I was in total shock,” said Darlene Marshall, of Stockbridge, who was parked next to the Scion. She and her husband were leaving the Ellenwood store, a little after 10 p.m., when she discovered the twins.
Marshall said she hesitated before calling 911.
“I just assumed the mother would be right out,” she said. Instead, it would be “at least 20 minutes” before Williams, 26, reappeared, Marshall said.
Police were waiting for Williams, who was arrested and charged with two counts of child cruelty.
“She saw the baby carriers on the ground and started looking around asking ‘Where’s my babies?’ ” Marshall said.
Emergency medical personnel informed officers on the scene that the twins were in good condition, according to Clayton County Police spokeswoman Rebecca Brown.
“I was so relieved,” said Marshall, grandmother of four. After placing the call to 911 Marshall checked the temperature gauge inside her husband’s car. “It was still 90 degrees.”
The infants were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, then released to their father, Brown said. Williams remains at the Clayton County jail.
