Fall contest winner plans wedding cruise

For Spring Bridal Guide

It's a wonder that Januah M. Williams has any time to plan her wedding, which will take place on June 26. She's a full-time student at Clayton College & State University and works full time at Vineyard Trucking Co. as an administrative assistant — enough for any young woman to manage. Add in planning a wedding and house-hunting, and it would seem that Williams, 25, has a full plate.

However, she and fiancé Douglas Duncan, 28, have been looking forward to their special day since Jan. 1, 2004, when he popped the question after a five-year, long-distance relationship.

"I wasn't feeling well, and he kept trying to get me to get out of the house for a while," she said. "He sat down on the couch and started telling me how much he loved me and that I was the one who was always there for him.

"By the time he said 'I love you with all my heart and I want you to be my wife, my lifelong partner and the mother of my kids,' I was crying. Then he pulled out the ring."

Duncan had purchased the ring before his holiday trip to Fayetteville to visit his sweetheart. Williams was thrilled when he proposed. Since then, she's been making arrangements for the wedding, which will take place on a cruise this

summer.

When Williams won The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Ultimate Wedding Contest last fall, many of her plans were complete. Since she had already selected her bridesmaids' dresses, she gave her mother the selection of a dress from Bridesmaids Bow-tique.

Because the wedding and honeymoon were booked on a cruise, Williams and Duncan will take another trip just for the two of them as a result of the AJC contest. They'll spend five days and four nights in Mexico at Aventura Spa Palace.

She also won a package from Taylor Brooks Salon, which she'll use after the honeymoon, in preparation for the reception party the couple won at Vecoma for their friends who are unable to go to the wedding.
