What a week for new jobs in Georgia
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
That "jobless recovery"?
It wasn't so jobless this week in Georgia.
A German company's announcement Friday it will hire 215 people at a wind energy plant next year in Gainesville marked three straight days of good news on the employment front.
Thursday, an Arkansas frozen baked goods maker, De Wafelbakkers, said it will take over an abandoned bakery in Henry County and hire 242 workers over the next three years to make waffles, pancakes and French toast.
A day earlier, word came that General Electric will create 400 new jobs in Cobb County when it opens its futuristic Smart Grid Center of Excellence this year.
It all adds up to 857 new jobs.
"It's been a great week," said Ken Stewart, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. "We've had so many good things happening."
