Wendy's opening in Singapore this week
For the AJC
Wendy’s/Arby’s Group on Tuesday announced the opening this week of the first of 35 Wendy’s restaurants to be built by the Kopitiam Group in Singapore in the next 10 years.
Kopitiam Group is the largest food-service management company in Singapore. Atlanta-based Wendy’s/Arby’s Group, which has more than 10,000 restaurants, is the third-largest fast-food company in the United States.
With most outlets concentrated in the United States, Wendy’s/Arby’s executives have said their brands have room for international expansion.
“This opening marks an important milestone in our efforts to grow in key international markets,” said Andy Skehan, senior vice president of Wendy’s/Arby’s International, in a press release. “Based on comprehensive analysis, we believe we have the long-term growth potential for more than 8,000 restaurants outside of North America, including a much stronger presence in the Asia/Pacific region.”
