NASCAR.com is getting its own MySpace page.

The deal was announced this week by Turner Sports, which has been the producer for NASCAR.com since 2001. The MySpace site will carry the NASCAR brand and offer news, photos and videos as well as link to the NASCAR.com site.

NASCAR.com's own social-media site, NASCAR.com Community, also gets a restart today, allowing users to create photo galleries and post events.

MySpace, more known for its popularity among musicians, is trying to break away from that mold, said Matthew Hong, vice president and general manager of sports operations for Turner Sports, a division of Atlanta-based Turner Broadcasting System. Hong said the social-media site ended up being a great match for the NASCAR demographic.

"For us, it's a great crossover," he said Friday.

The deal is the latest in Turner Sports' growing digital portfolio, which includes PGAtour.com and PGA.com. Turner also manages the online advertising sales for the NBA, golf and NASCAR pages of Yahoo Sports as part of a long-term agreement the companies announced in July 2008.

Turner Sports also handles the production, advertising sales and marketing for about 50 NBA league and team Web sites as part of an eight-year deal.
