The NCR Corp., the Fortune 500 company that recently moved its corporate headquarters to Gwinnett County, officially opened its “services center of excellence” Monday in Peachtree City.

The 360,000-square foot building houses NCR’s parts headquarters, customer care and training centers. NCR, makers of ATMs, checkout scanners and other self-service equipment, expects to eventually employ more than 900 people in Peachtree City.

In all, the company plans 3,000 Georgia jobs at a manufacturing plant in Columbus, the headquarters in Duluth and the service center in Peachtree City. And Georgia should remain immune, according to company spokesmen, from its worldwide, 10 percent job cuts.

“Today’s opening is a great achievement for NCR and is certainly welcome news for our state’s economy,” said Governor Sonny Perdue who was joined by U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and NCR officials.
