Home Depot manager pleads guilty
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Another Home Depot manager has pleaded guilty to helping a vendor get contracts at the nation's third largest retailer.
On Wednesday, Guillermo Martinez, 47 of Cumming, a former senior manager of product engineering, pleaded guilty to stealing trade secrets at the Atlanta-based company.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3 in front of U.S. District Judge Willis B. Hunt Jr.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office, in 2008 Martinez gave confidential pricing information about other vendors to a vendor he was assigned to assist in applying for inclusion on Home Depot shelves.
This information would have helped that company in its pricing strategy, therefore giving it an advantage.
Martinez was caught during an investigation into Home Depot's buying practices after several employees pleaded guilty to taking kickbacks from overseas vendors.
