Hartsfield-Jackson still ranked as busiest airport
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport remained the nation's busiest airport, followed by Chicago O'Hare, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver and Los Angeles, according to new federal data on 2009 airline traffic.
Atlanta was No. 1 with 41.7 million passengers boarding U.S. airlines in 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
In the federal ranking of 2009 international passenger traffic, Miami was ranked first, followed by New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Atlanta, Newark and Houston Bush.
Hartsfield-Jackson is also the world's busiest airport. While the federal ranking counts passengers boarding U.S. airlines, other rankings look at the total number of passengers, counting departures and arrivals and including foreign carriers.
